As we welcome readers to yet another jam packed hundred page issue of your favourite county magazine, you’ll be pleased to learn that, despite the doom and gloom of the stock markets and banking institutions, a recent survey ranks the UK as one of the most stable and prosperous countries in the world! We’ve even beaten the super smug Swiss in a global assessment of every nation’s achievements and standards.

Now, quite how we’ve done this is beyond all of us here at Lincolnshire Today Towers, as is the fact that anyone has the time to complete such a survey but hey, let’s not be bad sports here.

Clearly our Australian cousins fared less well, as I hear one of them put his life up for sale on eBay. This included everything from his house, to his car, furniture, clothes, friends, even a trial run at his career. It really makes you think, doesn’t it?

We should be thankful for instance that we don’t live elsewhere, and I’m not talking places that came out worst in the survey like Afghanistan or the Central African Republic. No, I’m talking about London, where everyone is anxious about a property crash.

Who knows, we may even be on the receiving end of those looking to relocate – somewhere more desirable, somewhere with a quality of life second to none, somewhere with magnificent countryside all around us and of course relatively uncongested roads.

Personally I love Lincolnshire, and no doubt this is apparent not only in the stimulating articles each month but also the responsible approach we take to our environment. I notice some other county magazines continue to ignore their commitment to the environment, by selling their magazines in polythene bags for instance, or padding out their magazines by only publishing a few words to the page in a bid to show its customers, “never mind the quality guv, look at the number of pages!”

We know readers and customers alike are not won by such gimmicks. By stark contrast, Lincolnshire Today serves its readers and its community by ensuring it adheres to strict environmental controls and ensures it gives generously to worthy causes. Just one of the many reasons that Lincolnshire Today has become number one…

Good reading as always…
